Why am I an abstract artist?

Abstract art offers pure enjoyment of colour, shapes, lines and textures. It creates immense tranquility while one loses oneself in its free and undesignated forms and a myriad of colours.

It demands reflection to decipher whether a message - or which message - has been communicated, and yet, it affords utter freedom as to whether you want to read it, how to read it, whether you need to find meaning or representation or not.

It gives room for individual creation and contemplation to the artist and viewer alike; freedom from the external world and its fixed meanings and representations.

I wish to create beauty which engages and disturbs your senses over and over again, changing your perspectives and moods, and offering you different viewpoints.

I am fascinated by the process of creating with oils which mould, overlap layer by layer, gradually revealing an image.

I wish to create art that will not sink into the wallpaper, but art that keeps you excited, that you long to look at, to just sit and stare, sense and experience; art that responds to your visual needs, your inner eye, your meaning, your message.
